During a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi, Virat Kohli, a player for Royal Challengers Bangalore, achieved a milestone by becoming the first player to score 7000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In his 225th IPL innings, the 34-year-old batsman hit a cut shot against Axar Patel that sped to the fence to reach the 7000-run milestone. As a result of Kohli scoring 100 T20 runs against DC in the same game early on, DC also happens to be Kohli’s favorite IPL foe.
Shikhar Dhawan, who is currently in second place on the all-time IPL run scorers list with 6536 runs, is well behind Kohli.
Virat Kohli has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore since the beginning of IPL in 2008. He has scored 49 fifties and five centuries in the tournament, with an average of 36.59. He also holds the record for scoring the highest number of runs in a single edition of the IPL. In 2016, he scored 973 runs for RCB and won the Orange Cap, which is awarded to the top run-scorer of the tournament.
In a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals in New Delhi on Saturday, RCB won the toss and chose to bat first. The opening pair of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli gave RCB a strong start, scoring yet another 50+ opening runs in the powerplay while Delhi Capitals struggled to take a wicket. RCB has included Kedar Jadhav in their playing XI to bolster their middle order, which has not performed well this season. On the other hand, DC has brought back Mitchell Marsh into their playing XI, but Anrich Nortje is not playing due to personal reasons.
