The upcoming IPL season commences on March 22, featuring a thrilling encounter between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk. Arun Dhumal recently confirmed the occurrence of the mega auction ahead of the 2025 IPL season. An integral feature of these auctions is the allowance for teams to retain a limited set of 3-4 players while rejuvenating the rest of their squads.

He said, “ We will have the mega auction for sure, where you get to choose three-four players and then you have a new team. That makes it more interesting and that format will continue.”
He added, “Hopefully, the mega auction will be as big and as good as we have had earlier given newer talents coming in not from India and other countries. Teams like Afghanistan have also benefitted as they could showcase their talent.”
IPL and Upcoming T20 World Cup:
Furthermore, the IPL concludes on May 26, providing players with ample time to gear up for the upcoming T20 World Cup. India kicks off their campaign in this prestigious tournament on June 5, facing Ireland in the opening match. This scheduling ensures that players have sufficient rest and preparation time between the end of the IPL season and the commencement of the global cricketing spectacle, optimizing their performance on the international stage.
He said, “This time the challenge is that we are starting with the T20 World Cup in the first week of June, and we were planning to close the tournament by May 25 or May 26 as the team will have to travel to the US and that’s a different territory altogether.”
He also said, “ For the first time, the tournament will be held there and it’s a new thing, so the players need to be there early to have some sort of practice games ahead of the tournament.”
BCCI Released First Half Schedule of IPL:
This year, the BCCI has unveiled the schedule for only the initial two weeks of the tournament due to the anticipated Lok Sabha elections, possibly slated for May. The final schedule for the remainder of the IPL season hinges upon confirmation of the exact dates for the nationwide polling by the Election Commission.
