Rajasthan Royals made a stunning return to winning ways as they thrashed Chennai Super Kings by 32 runs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter in Jaipur. The Royals put up a mammoth score of 202 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal leading the way with his attacking knock of 77 runs off just 43 deliveries.
Although Super Kings made a brief comeback in the middle overs, late fireworks from Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal pushed the Royals past the 200-run mark, making it the first 200-plus total by an IPL team in Jaipur. Despite Matheesha Pathirana’s express pace and accurate yorkers, he was unlucky to concede 48 runs in his four overs.
In response, Super Kings failed to get the start they were looking for and were stifled by Adam Zampa and R Ashwin, who picked up five wickets between them. Although Shivam Dube and Ruturaj Gaikwad tried to offer some resistance, it was not enough as CSK lost the game by a margin of 32 runs. Dube top-scored for the team with 52 runs off 33 balls, while Gaikwad contributed with 47 runs off 29 deliveries.
With this win, Rajasthan Royals not only returned to the winning ways after losing their previous two games but also climbed to the top of the IPL points table, making a statement of intent in the ongoing tournament. CSK, on the other hand, have slipped down to the 3rd spot after tonight’s defeat. Both teams have 10 points in 8 games, but RR have a better Net Run Rate (NRR), and that’s why, they are at the top of the Points Table.
