Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad will play the first match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in IPL 2021. The two teams are sitting at the two-opposite spectrum of the points table. CSK will look for a win to move back to the number one position in the table whereas SRH will need the win to ensure that they are not too much behind the other teams in points tally.

Imran Tahir:
Tahir played his first match in IPL 2021 on Sunday against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Imran Tahir played only three matches in IPL 2020 and got only one wicket. Many were surprised when Tahir was retained by CSK and it is clear now that they have specific plans to use the veteran spinner most effectively. Unfortunately, CSK is not playing in Chennai this year where Tahir would have been very handy but historically even the Arun Jaitley Stadium also supported spinners and Tahir can be a match winner in these conditions. The wrist spinners are always in demand in T20 matches due to their wicket taking skills and Tahir was premier exponent of the art. He picked up two wickets in his first match and should continue to provide key dismissals for his team.
It will be a battle of two leg spinners as Sunrisers Hyderabad also have Rashid Khan, arguably the best leg spinner of the current generation. Rashid has an enviable record in IPL where he is maintaining below 6 economy rate in both 2020 and 2021. There is a tendency for opposition batters to play him sensibly and look to attack other bowlers. But with his variations, Rashid ensures that he is never away from wickets. He picked up 20 wickets in the last season and has already picked up 6 wickets from 5 matches in 2021 with an average of 18.66 and economy rate of 5.60. With SRH middle order not firing, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffering from an injury it will be a big responsibility for Rashid to ensure that he can lead the bowling pack and contain the opponents to as minimum as possible.
