Irfan Pathan Laments Sanju Samson’s World Cup Squad Exclusion

World Cup 2023 is around the corner. Just a few days left before the biggest competition in cricket. India will play a three-match ODI series against Australia. This mini-series will kick start on September 22. Three matches will be played in Mohali, Indore and Rajkot. The Squad has been announced on Monday night for this series. There are some changes in the squad. But disappointment continues for Sanju Samson. Despite that fact, former Indian player Irfan Pathan is upset about this decision. He expressed his thoughts on his Twitter handle.

India’s squad for the series:

India will play the series right before the World Cup. So the selection committee announced the squad with some interesting changes. For the first two matches Skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav have been rested. In that place, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prasidh Krishna, and Washington Sundar are selected in the squad for the first two matches. KL Rahul will lead the team.

For the third and final ODI, the rested players will be back. Rohit will take charge again. Axar Patel is also named in the squad. If he recovers from his injury, he will play the match. Ravichandran Ashwin made a come in this series after a long gap. His return is creating a buzz among the experts. He is not a part of the World Cup squad.

Irfan Pathan’s comment:

After watching the squad for this three-match ODI series Irfan Pathan felt for Sanju Samson. On his Twitter handle, he wrote,” If I’m in a place of Sanju Sanson right now, I will be disappointed.” Sanju is ignored by the selectors again.

In the absence of the seniors, it could be a good opportunity for Samson. As a wicketkeeper, Sanju could be a good option. This Indian batter was named in the Asia Cup squad as a backup. But in the World Cup squad, he has been Ignored by the selectors again.
