“Is Cricket Australia serious??” Former Australian Bowler Mitchell Johnson Lashes Out Over Cricket Australia for an Invitation

The Mitchell Johnson vs. Cricket Australia saga has been going on for a few days now. Over David Warner’s retirement, he got furious. He draws the connection to the ‘Ball-Temparing’ case. After that, the Australian Board canceled his two speaking engagements after he wrote the column about David Warner. Now, the board sends him an invitation for an award function. He expressed his frustration over that matter.

The Johnson-Warner Saga:

From the stage of the World Test Championship, Australian legend David Warner announced his retirement. He announced that he would retire after playing the Test series against Pakistan in January 2024. The last match of the series is scheduled to happen at Sydney Cricket Ground. That will be the final Test match of David Warner’s career. The Aussie player played many memorable innings for Australia. For his contribution to the Australian Cricket, the board planned a farewell for him.

Even after having a fabulous career, Warner was associated with ‘Sandpaper Schandle’. After the Board decided on Warner’s farewell, Mitchell Johnson was not happy with this decision. He also questioned Warner’s selection in the first Test against Pakistan. He said, “It’s been five years and David Warner has still never really owned the ball-tampering scandal. Now the way he is going out is underpinned by more of the same arrogance and disrespect to our country. As we prepare for David Warner’s farewell series, can somebody please tell me why?”

Johnson’s Frustration:

After Mitchell Johnson remarked on David Warner, Cricket Australia canceled two of his speaking engagements. The former Aussie bowler wrote a column about Warner. On December 14, Australia and Pakistan met in the first Test match in Perth. Johnson criticized the board for his selection. But Warner played exceptionally well in the match. In the first innings, he scored 163 runs.
