Jadeja makes an ODI comeback, Pandya, Shardul and Axar ruled out

India’s injury concerns have raised in the span of 2 days. Hardik Pandya, who had injured his lower back against Pakistan, has been ruled out the Asia Cup 2018. Ravindra Jadeja makes a comeback to the ODI side after 2 other players got injured and ruled out.

Shardul Thakur felt right hip and groin soreness after the game against Hong Kong. On the other hand, Axar Patel injured his left index finger while fielding in the last match versus Pakistan. Along with Jadeja, Deepak Chahar and Siddharth Kaul will fly to Dubai to join the Indian squad.

Pandya had suffered an ugly injury to his lower back while bowling in the game against Pakistan. He was unable to move and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher. Later, BCCI gave an update that he was able to stand and was undergoing medical assistance.

The absence of Axar and Shardul might not hurt India a lot because unlike Pandya, they were not regulars in the line-up. Jadeja gets back to the ODI setup after playing last in the ICC Champions Trophy final last year. It now remains to be seen whether he would get a chance to feature in the XI.

India won both the Group A matches against Hong Kong and Pakistan and finished as the toppers of the group. They will now face Bangladesh on Friday and then go head to head against Pakistan again on Sunday. Their last Super 4 game will be versus Afghanistan on Tuesday.

India’s updated squad for the Asia Cup 2018
