Johnson Charles replaces Litton Das in KKR

Kolkata Knight Riders have announced Johnson Charles as the replacement for Litton Das for the remainder of the IIPL 2023. Litton Das had to return Bangladesh midway to return home following a family emergency.

On April 28, Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das left IPL midway to return home following an emergency in the family. He will not be part of the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2023. Kolkata Knight Riders, therefore have roped in Johnson Charles as Das’s replacement for the remaining matches of the ongoing league. Das played only one game for the franchise and following his return to Bangladesh, KKR had informed, Litton Das, who played only one game for KKR, had to return to Bangladesh earlier today (Friday 28 April) due to an urgent family medical emergency. Our wishes go out to him and his family to make it through this difficult time.”

Earlier Shakib Al-Hasan also left the league and eventually only Mustafizur Rahman, the left-arm fast bowler the only one Bangladeshi player left in the tournament. Rahman is part of the Delhi Capitals franchise. On the other hand, Johnson Charles, the wicketkeeper-batter from West Indies represented the country in 41 T20Is, scoring 971 runs. He was also part of West Indies 2012 and 2016 World T20-winning squads. Charles has played 224 T20s and has amassed more than 5600 runs. He was signed by KKR for INR 50 lakh.

KKR, meanwhile have managed to collect six points from nine games. They will meet Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 47th match of the tournament today. In order to keep their chances alive for the Playoffs, the Kolkata franchise cannot afford to lose any game further.
