Kagiso Rabada Returns To ODIs In The ODI Series Against Pakistan

Kagiso Rabada Makes his ODI return for South Africa against Pakistan. Kwena Maphaka earns his maiden call-up, while Anrich Nortje is ruled out due to injury.

Kagiso Rabada’s ODI Comeback 

Kagiso Rabada has been named in South Africa’s 16- member squad for the ODI series against Pakistan. Rabada will mark his comeback to ODI cricket for the first time after the 2023 ODI World Cup semifinal.

His inclusion is going to strengthen South Africa’s bowling attack. Marco Jansen, Ottneil Baartman, and Andile Phehlukwayo are already present in the bowling squad. Rabada’s experience and pace are expected to provide a major boost to South Africa. This will be the stepping stone in South Africa’s preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy next year.

The squad also highlights the return of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller. Both the players are going to  make batting fiery. Klassen and Miller were last featured in the ODI series against India in December 2023. Including them in the Squad will definitely build a strong foundation ahead of crucial tournaments.

Kwena Maphaka’s Maiden Call-Up 

A talented Kwena Maphaka has earned his first ODI call-up after an outstanding performance in the U-19 World Cup. The 18-year-old was named the player of the tournament. He claimed 21 wickets at an average of 9.71. Maphaka’s selection underlines South Africa’s focus on nurturing young talent.

“This series offers a great opportunity for Kwena to learn from senior players like Kagiso Rabada.” The coach further emphasized the importance of the series in fine-tuning combinations before the Champions Trophy.” Said Rob Walter , praising Maphaka.
