Kanpur Curator Indicates Pitch Will Favor Both Pace and Spin in 2nd Test

As Team India prepares for their second Test against Bangladesh, the curator at Green Park Stadium has indicated that the pitch will offer opportunities for both spinners and fast bowlers. This balanced surface is expected to provide an intriguing contest, catering to the strengths of both bowling styles. With such a pitch, players from both teams will need to strategize effectively, adjusting their techniques and tactics throughout the match to maximize their chances of success.

Kanpur Pitch Likelt to be Same as Chennai Stadium:

Scheduled for Friday, the Test match will see India aiming to assert their dominance and secure a series sweep with a victory in Kanpur. Following a strong performance in the previous matches, the Indian team is determined to maintain their momentum and deliver another impressive display against Bangladesh, reinforcing their position in the series and showcasing their cricketing prowess.

As per a PTI report, curator Shiv Kumar indicated that the pitch for the upcoming Test will resemble the one used in the previous match in Chennai. In that match, pacers benefited from bounce with the new ball, while spinners began to make an impact as the game progressed, suggesting a balanced surface for both bowling styles.

He said, “ There will be that Chennai match feeling. It will have something for everyone. It will offer bounce in the first two sessions and it will be pretty good for batting for the first two days. Then, the spinners will come into play on the last three days.”

A UPCA official said, “We get this soil tested from the Indian Institute of Technology. It’s a special soil that is found near a pond in village Kali Mitti. It (bringing black soil from the village) is a practice we have been following for years.”

Typically, red soil pitches provide significant bounce and favor fast bowlers, while black soil surfaces tend to be flatter and allow spinners to generate more turn as the match progresses. The Indian team has maintained the same squad from the first Test, ensuring they have the necessary bowling options to adapt to any playing conditions.
