After the historic defeat to Pakistan in the T20 World Cup match yesterday, Virat Kohli, the Indian national cricket team captain was asked about dropping Rohit Sharma from the team. Kohli’ reaction to the question went viral instantly as he came up with a counter question.
Virat Kohli baffled at the presser when he was asked by a reporter whether Rohit Sharma should be dropped. A reporter asked him if “Ishan Kishan should have played ahead of Rohit Sharma?”. Kohli appeared speechless for a moment after hearing the question. Then he responded with laugh. He asked the reporter, “It’s a very brave question. What do you think, sir?” He continued, “I played the team that I thought was the best. What is your opinion? Will you drop Rohit Sharma from T20 internationals?
Kohli went on to repeat the question in disbelief, “You’ll drop Rohit Sharma?” He then reminded the reporter about Rohit Sharma’s performance in the warm-up match, laughed at the question and called it “unbelievable”. Kohli also suggested if the media wants controversy, they should inform him beforehand. “Do you know what he did in the last game that we played? Yeah? Unbelievable. If you want controversy, please tell me before so I can answer accordingly”
In India’s second T20 World Cup warm-up game against Australia, Rohit scored a fifty despite missing the first game. In India’s tournament opener against Pakistan, however, Rohit was dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi for a duck.
