A new era began in Indian cricket when the Indian Premier League came to reality in the year 2008. After a young bunch of cricketers, led by MS Dhoni, brought the World T20 Trophy home in 2007, the nation identified that T20 was the way to go forward. Since then, IPL has become an integral part of Indian cricket. Cricadium has compiled the IPL Winners List of all seasons from IPL 2008 to 2020.
In the first edition, there were some big names in various teams, but a low-profile Rajasthan Royals, captained by Shane Warne, emerged victorious. Then, the now-defunct Deccan Chargers lifted the trophy in 2009. Chennai Super Kings then had their hand on the trophy in the next 2 seasons. The Men in Yellow came back from suspension in 2018 and once again, became the champions.
Mumbai Indians have won the title the most number of times. They have 5 trophies in the cabinet from the years 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. Gautam Gambhir brought glory to Kolkata Knight Riders twice under his leadership. Sunrisers Hyderabad is the other franchise that has lifted the trophy once. So far, the IPL has witnessed 13 seasons and 6 teams have been able to win the coveted trophy.
