Mongolia Bowled Out for 15 Runs in Asian Games 2022

Mongolia endured a dismal performance as they were bowled out for a mere 15 runs in a T20I match against Indonesia during the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022. In their pursuit of a target of 188 set by the Indonesian women’s team, Mongolia’s batting display fell drastically short. Notably, this is not the lowest team total recorded in international cricket.

None of Mongolia’s batters managed to reach double digits, and seven out of their eleven batters were dismissed without scoring a run. Indonesia’s Andriani Andriani stood out as the top bowler, claiming four wickets while conceding only eight runs in her four overs.

As it happened

In the match, Mongolia’s captain Tsendsuren Ariuntsetseg won the toss and chose to field first at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field. However, their decision backfired as the Indonesian batswomen displayed excellent batting prowess. Openers Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini and Ni Luh Dewi put on a remarkable 106-run partnership for the first wicket. Dewi continued her innings, eventually scoring 62 runs off just 48 balls before being bowled by Battsetseg Namuunzul.

Indonesia finished their innings with a total of 187 runs for the loss of four wickets, establishing their dominance in the game. On the bowling front, Mongolia’s Mendbayaar Enkhzul, Mendbayaar Enkhzul, Jargalsaikhan Erdenesuvd, and Gansuk Anujin each took one wicket, while Tsendsuren Ariuntsetseg and Battsogt Narangerel went wicketless.

In their chase, Mongolia got off to a dreadful start, losing half of their side with only eight runs on the scoreboard in the eighth over. By the end of the tenth over, Mongolia’s innings came to a close with a total of just 15 runs.

Remarkably, this marked Mongolia’s debut appearance in international cricket. While their performance might have disappointed them, they will likely aim to make a stronger comeback in their upcoming matches to establish themselves in the continental tournament.
