Mumbai Crowd’s Roar Interrupts Rohit Sharma’s Speech, Urged for Silence to Continue

After the 2011 World Cup final, the Wankhede Stadium celebrated one more World Cup. After having an excellent tournament, Team India lifted the T20 World Cup and ended 11 years of trophy drought. Coming back to their homeland, captain Rohit Sharma and the rest of the squad were busy celebrating the remarkable win with the fans. The day ended with a memorable program at the Wankhede Stadium. The entire stadium went crazy to celebrate the win and skipper Rohit Sharma needed to stop the crowd to give his speech.  

The Crazy Crowd and Rohit’s Words:

After coming back to India with the prestigious T20 World Cup trophy, Rohit Sharma and the Indian team had a busy day. From meeting PM Narendra Modi to traveling to Mumbai and joining the victory parade along with the fans followed by the program at the Wankhedce Stadium, the player got all it covered. They relived their winning celebration with the fans in India.  

At the Wankhede Stadium, Rohit Sharma was called to the stage to talk about his career’s crowning moment. However, the Mumbai crowd erupted in cheers, interrupting him. Rohit had to pause his speech for about 30 seconds as the Wankhede faithful cheered loudly. Overwhelmed by the support, Rohit asked the crowd to let him speak.

Dedicating the Trophy to the Nation:

After the Champions Trophy of 2013, Team India need to wait for the ICC trophy. Before the T20 World Cup win, skipper Rohit Sharma and the entire team faced several heartbreaks. But performing incredibly well in the recently ended tournament, Team India lifted the trophy. After that, captain Rohit Sharma dedicated the trophy to the entire nation.

In the event at the Wankhedce Stadium, Rohit said, “Firstly… since we came to India, it’s been wonderful. The reception we’ve received here tells you the kind of enthusiasm people had for this trophy. Yes, of course, it means so much for us but it’s for the entire nation. Along with all the players who have represented the country, I think the people who’ve been wanting us to win the trophy, it [trophy] belongs to them.”

Later he added, “Look, it’s been only 3-4 days since the final. We just arrived this morning. Honestly, it was a wonderful experience and a great honour to meet Mr. Narendra Modi in the morning with the team. We all know how passionate he is about the sport so again bringing this World Cup to this country means the world to us.”

Thanking the Mumbai Crowd: 

The Wankhede Stadium buzzed with noise and excitement as fans celebrated Team India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory. All of Mumbai gathered at Marine Drive to welcome the World Cup heroes, bringing the celebration to the streets. This joyous night reminded everyone of Team India’s 2011 World Cup win. In the end, Rohit Sharma thanked the entire Mumbai crowd for their support.

Rohit said, “Mumbai never disappoints. We got a solid reception. On behalf of the team, we would like to thank the fans. I am very very happy and relieved.”

Whenever cricket fans will remember the T20 World Cup win, the last-over performance by Hardik Pandya will be remembered forever. The Indian all-rounder nailed the game for India. After being criticized in the IPL for poor form, he changed all the graphs with his brilliance.
