Netherlands Set to Join Pre-World Cup Training Camp in Bengaluru for 2023 Tournament

Following an impressive showing in the World Cup qualifier held in Zimbabwe, the Netherlands cricket team is all prepared to take part in the upcoming ODI World Cup, scheduled to kick off on October 5, 2023, in India.

Their crucial victory came through a convincing triumph over Scotland in a must-win qualifier match held in Bulawayo. This triumph not only secured their win against Scotland but also allowed them to surpass the Scots in terms of Net Run Rate. The standout player of the match was Bas de Leede, who showcased an outstanding performance by taking five wickets and scoring an impressive 123 runs. This achievement marks their fifth participation in the ODI World Cup, having previously taken part in the 1996, 2003, 2007, and 2011 editions.

In preparation for the upcoming World Cup campaign, the Netherlands team has a 12-day training camp scheduled in the vicinity of Bengaluru during September. The lead-up to the World Cup gathering for the Dutch side, who have unexpectedly emerged as strong contenders for the championship, has been meticulously arranged by the Netherlands Cricket Board in collaboration with the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).

The allocated training period is set to take place from September 19 to October 1 at the Alur facility under the jurisdiction of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). An authoritative figure from the KSCA affirmed this development to Cricbuzz, following communication from a couple of Dutch officials regarding this arrangement. Although discussions are ongoing to potentially extend the training camp by a few weeks, starting from the early part of September, conclusive confirmation regarding this proposal is still pending.

“What a fantastic performance this Dutch team has achieved! Beforehand, qualification in the midst of so many Full Members seemed like a hopeless mission. The Orange-bellied all the doomsayers with brilliant game plans and unprecedented fighting spirit and deserved to make it to the final tournament.”
