Anrich Nortje missed the first couple of games for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023 due to national team commitments. However, he has joined the team on April 4 and started playing the league on the very day. In fact, current he is playing the ongoing IPL game against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati.
Nortje on playing on same day of arrival
Nortje, the South African pacer played his first IPL game of the season for Delhi Capitals on the same day he reached India. The match against Gujarat Giants saw him scalping two wickets but his team lost the match by six wickets with 11 balls remaining.Ahead of DC’s match against Rajasthan Royals today, he spoke about the experience of playing a match on the same day he landed in India.
“It was a quick turnaround but felt quite good to be back and playing the game. We took our flight overnight so the time difference was ideal because I got to sleep on the flight. Unfortunate about how the last game panned out but was nice to get out there and be with the team again,” he told in a pre-match interview.

Meanwhile, after losing two matches, Delhi Capitals are eager to win their third match of IPL 2023. While speaking of the same ahead of today’s clash against Rajasthan. Nortje said, “The talk has been about doing the basics right and doing it for long periods, trying to partnerships up front with the bat, trying to build partnerships with the ball as well. Obviously the more wickets we can take the better, but also trying to restrict the opposition as much as we can and get some momentum going.”
In Guwahati, Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to bowl first against Rajasthan Royals. The Royals look set for a big score, thanks Jos Buttler who added 79 off 51 while Yashasvi Jaiswal also contributed with a 31-ball 60.
