The day saw two exhilarating encounters. In the first game, Royal Challengers Bangalore toppled the Rajasthan Royals in a close game. However, in the second Chennai Super completely decimated the Kolkata Knight Riders. After two amazing encounters, there have been several changes in the Orange Cap list.
Faf cements his spot at the top, Maxwell finally arrives
Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis were the stars of the show as Royal Challengers Bangalore took on Rajasthan Royals in a high-octane encounter. The duo turned the tide of the game for RCB with a scintillating partnership that left the opposition reeling. Maxwell, in particular, was in sensational form, playing a masterful inning that showcased his immense talent and skill.
Faf Du Plessis, too, was in fine form, getting stuck into Sandeep Sharma and hitting two sixes and a four in the fourth over. He and Maxwell took the game away from the Rajasthan Royals, putting up 127 runs for the third wicket and playing a huge role in taking RCB’s score to 188 runs. Maxwell scored 77 runs off 44 balls while Du Plessis scored 62 runs off 39 balls. Faf has cemented his position at the top of the Orange Cap with 405 runs in 7 games and is almost 100 runs ahead of Devon Conway who rose to the second spot after today’s second game. Maxwell has also entered the top 10 list and is at the 8th spot in the race for the Orange Cap.
Conway hits third consecutive fifty of the season
Devon Conway seems to be in his prime form as he hit his third consecutive fifty and fourth overall of the season. Conway led the charge for the Chennai Super Kings at the top, scoring 56 runs in 40 balls. After today’s inning, Conway has bashed up to the 2nd spot in the race for the Orange Cap with 314 runs in 7 games. He has surpassed Ruturaj Gaikwad to become CSK’s most successful batter this season. His opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad has also risen to the 5th spot.
On the other hand, Venkatesh Iyer and Jos Buttler both flopped for their respective teams as Iyer scored just 20 runs in 20 balls while Buttler got out for a duck. Nonetheless, both batters are still in the top 10, but are on thin ice.
