In a one-sided affair, the Gujarat Titans dominated the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, RR could only manage to score 118 runs in 17.5 overs, thanks to the Afghani spinning duo of Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan, who took 2 and wickets respectively. GT chased down this total in just 13.5 overs, further cementing their place at the top of the Points Table. After a game dominated by the bowlers, the Purple Cap list has seen a few changes.
Shami cements his place at the top
Mohammed Shami has continued to dominate the game with his sheer pace and ability to swing the new ball. After picking up the wicket of Trent Boult tonight, Shami has cemented his top spot in the Purple Cap list. Shami now has 18 wickets in 10 games at an economy rate of 7.02. His best bowling figures came in the last game against the Delhi Capitals.
Rashid decimates the Rajasthan batting order
Rashid Khan, who had been searching for form in the last few games, finally found it against the Rajasthan Royals in tonight’s encounter. His 3 wickets for 14 runs were pretty much the determining factor of the game. These included the wickets of Ravichandran Ashwin, Riyan Parag, and Shimron Hetmyer, all 3 of whom are capable of turning the tide of the game with the bat.
Rashid is now tied with Shami for the most number of wickets in the Purple Cap list. Both bowlers from Gujarat Titans have 18 wickets in 10 games. However, Shami is in the top spot because of his impressive economy rate.
Chahal back in the top 10
Yuzvendra Chahal was the only wicket-taker for the Rajasthan Royals in tonight’s game against the Gujarat Titans. Even though it wasn’t enough to win the game, it was enough for Yuzvendra Chahal to be back in the top 10. Chahal is now at the 10th spot in the Purple Cap list with 13 wickets in 10 games.
