Rajasthan Premier League 2024 Cancelled Amid RCA Challenges

The Rajasthan Premier League (RPL) was not held in 2024 due to the limited authority of the RCA’s interim committee. Fresh elections and a new RCA executive body are expected to restore normal operations.

Rajasthan Premier League 2024: Lack of Authority Halts the Tournament

The Rajasthan Premier League (RPL), which saw its inaugural season in 2023, was not organised in 2024.

Jaideep Bihani, the convener of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) Ad Hoc committee, clarified that the interim body lacked the necessary authority to hold the tournament.

Bihani stated, “We did not have the purview to hold the Rajasthan Premier League this year. The newly elected body, which will come post-elections, will be responsible for organising the league.”

Impact of RCA’s Administrative Changes

Earlier this year, the Rajasthan government dissolved the RCA executive body, previously led by Vaibhav Gehlot, following allegations of irregularities.

Consequently, an ad hoc committee was formed, with Bihani as the convener. Bihani also highlighted that domestic cricket events, such as the Ranji Trophy and various age-group tournaments, are still being organised despite the challenges.

He mentioned, “We are organising domestic cricket – like Ranji Trophy, U16, U19, U23 games and their respective team selections.”

Financial Disputes and Upcoming RCA Elections

Addressing concerns regarding unpaid vendors from the previous RPL season, Bihani stated that only salaries related to the upcoming domestic season would be cleared, with funds directly transferred from the BCCI to the players and officials.

Furthermore, Bihani disclosed that fresh RCA elections are imminent.

The ad hoc committee has been operational for six months, and preparations for elections are underway to prevent further extensions.

In addition, Bihani revealed that a police complaint had been lodged in Jaipur against three members of the previous RCA committee for their alleged involvement in financial irregularities.
