After scoring a remarkable century in the first innings in a crucial situation, he nailed the game with the ball in the second innings. After dismissing Mahedy Hasan, he secured a fifer and became the oldest to took a five-wicket haul in a Test.  

Ravichandran Ashwin is on the brink of more thrilling milestones. With this recent performance, he secured his 37th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Remarkably, Ashwin is the first player to achieve this feat twice at the same venue. He previously scored 106 runs and took 5/43 against England in Chennai in 2021.

This latest achievement marks Ashwin’s seventh five-wicket haul in the fourth innings of a Test match. He now shares the second spot with legends Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralidaran. Only Rangana Herath, with 12 such performances, stands ahead of him.
