Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant extended his well-wishes to Afghanistan’s top-order batter Ibrahim Zadran after the latter underwent ankle surgery. Zadran, 22, sustained the injury during practice ahead of Afghanistan’s Test match against New Zealand earlier this month and was ruled out of the subsequent ODI series against South Africa.

The young Afghan cricketer confirmed on Tuesday, September 24, through a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that his surgery was successful.

Zadran expressed his gratitude towards the medical team, especially Dr. James, who performed the surgery, and emphasised his focus on recovery.

Pant, who himself knows the difficulties of recovering from a severe injury, commented on Zadran’s post, wishing him a swift recovery with a heartfelt “Recovery well.”

The Indian cricketer’s message reflects empathy, given that he, too, faced a long hiatus from cricket after a car accident in December 2022.

In his social media post, Zadran expressed his determination to return to the cricket field soon.
