Bangladesh and Sri Lanka fed into their rivalry with an epic face off at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, Texas For the 15th Match of ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Both teams are a part of Group D in the tournament which is hosting 20 squads who will compete against each other for the trophy.
In the match, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first resulting in a 124/9 score posted by the Sri Lankans in 20 overs. This was followed by an exhilarating run chase by the Bangladesh team who mustered up a score of 125/8 in 19 overs, hence winning the match by 2 wickets.
Rishad Hossain Becomes the POTM
Bangladesh bowler and Rishad Hossain was one of the biggest assets for his team in the match, with his quick thinking and expertise on the field.
“I tried my best and stuck to my strengths. I was trying to keep it normal for the hat-trick delivery and was keen on executing a good ball.” Rishad said.
The Bangladeshi bowler took away the wickets of Sri Lankan captain W Hasaranga (0) and batsmen Asalanka (19) and Dhananjaya de Silva (21).

As Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka while chasing the runs, they won the match by scoring 125/8 which means they won the match by 2 wickets.
With this, the match has also become one of the narrowest wins by any team in the T20 World Cup by wickets.
