Rohan Jaitley, DDCA president, is expected to succeed Jay Shah as the future secretary of the Board of Cricket Commissioners of India (BCCI) if Shah submits his nomination for the position of next chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah appears to have the backing of fifteen of the sixteen members of the ICC board, making his election seem like a formality.
Arun Jaitley as BCCI secretary
Shah would have to give up his current job as BCCI secretary if he were to be appointed to the ICC. His succession has been the subject of conjecture because of this vacancy, with Rohan Jaitley emerging as the front-runner. The late politician Arun Jaitley’s son, Jaitley, is the president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) at the moment. Rohan Jaitley is the ideal candidate to take up the position of BCCI Secretary, claims Dainik Bhaskar.

Shah the right successor for Greg Barclay
Whether Jay Shah would even be interested in becoming the next chairman of the ICC remains to be seen. He has not yet submitted his nomination, and August 27 is the deadline. Greg Barclay, the departing chairman of the ICC, recently said that he will not be running for a third term.
“ICC Chair Greg Barclay informed the Board that, upon the expiration of his present term at the end of November, he will not seek reelection. Before being re-elected in 2022, Barclay was named as the Independent ICC Chair in November 2020, according to a media statement from the ICC. One of the most important figures in the ICC boardroom, Shah is a member of the Finance and Commercial Affairs (F&CA) subcommittee of the global cricket governing body.

Past Indian heads of the ICC include Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar. Shah, 35, has the potential to become the organization’s youngest-ever chief. The election of the chairman is decided by 16 votes, in accordance with ICC rules. The winner needs to receive a simple majority of nine votes (51%) to win. In the past, the incumbent required a two-thirds majority to hold the position of chairman.
