Team India finished their pre scheduled matches at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The team successfully gained victory against their 3 opponents, in matches against Ireland, Pakistan and USA respectively.
The team was hosted at the Consulate General Of India In New York and the government office shared some glimpses of the ceremony on X.
The reception took place before India’s first ever match against the USA in New York for the T20 World Cup 2024 that is being co-hosted by the USA and West Indies.
Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid get Honoured
The Consulate general of India in New York made sure to invite and host the whole Indian team. From head coach Rahul Dravid to star batter Viral Kohli, the evening saw the who’s who of the Indian cricket fraternity spotted at the event.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah and Vice President Rajeev Shukla were also part of the occasion.
Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid and the team’s captain Rohit Sharma were felicitated by the Indian consulate, besides others.

In their post on X, the Consulate general of India shared glimpses from the event that showed who all were present in the ceremony.
In an interesting instance, Virat Kohli was seen sitting with the former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi. Indra Nooyi was appointed as the first female independent director by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in June 2018.
“This is the 1st time Team India is playing cricket in New York and first time playing the World Cup in the US. Cheering for Team India to go back home with the T20 World Cup,” the side note on the X post read.
Team India has since won the match against USA and is looking forward to compete against Canada in their match at Florida.
