The T20 tournament of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 is underway which sees different Indian states play against each other, domestically. On each day, a number of matches are scheduled given that the tournament consists of only 20 overs as compared to the ongoing 2023 World Cup campaign which is played in 50 overs. Of all the matches today, Maharashtra and Vidarbha locked horns with each other with Maharashtra winning the game by eight wickets. The match was held at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, and was a full action packed thriller for everyone to watch as team Maharashtra chased a target of 177 runs in 16 overs.
Having won the toss first, Maharashtra opted to field first and restricted the opponent team to 176 runs. It successfully managed to chase down the target in 16 overs and emerged victorious against one of the strong teams of Group D. All hail to Ruturaj Gaikwad who led the chase forward by smashing an unbeaten ton for his team.

Ruturaj Gaikwad essentially pulled off an exceptional performance in today’s face off against Vidarbha as he went on to score 102 runs off just 51 deliveries at a strike rate of 200. His 102-run chase contributed significantly to Maharashtra’s win followed by captain Kedar Jadhav’s massive knock of 42 runs from a mere 17 balls. They reckoned on their skillful batting prowess and made their efforts worth winning the match.Â
Counting on the winning streaks
Team Maharashtra has played five matches in total since the commencement of the domestic tournament. After securing victory against Vidarbha, its winning streak remains at three while it faced a stunning defeat against Uttarakhand and Jharkhand previously. Maharashtra is all set to face Rajasthan at the same venue it played against Vidarbha in Mohali on October 27.
