Former Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was spotted casting his vote in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections on Wednesday. 

Tendulkar, accompanied by his wife Anjali and daughter Sara, arrived early at a polling station in Mumbai. 

Speaking to the media, he emphasised the importance of voting and urged citizens to actively participate.

“I have been an icon for the Election Commission of India for quite some time now. My message is simple: vote. It is our responsibility. I urge everyone to come out and vote,” Tendulkar stated, reinforcing his commitment to civic duties.

The Maharashtra Assembly Elections are being held in a single phase, with polling taking place from 7 AM to 6 PM. 

A total of 288 constituencies are contested, with over 4,136 candidates, including 2,086 independents, in the fray.

Tendulkar, who retired from international cricket in 2013 after an illustrious career, continues to inspire as a public figure. 

In his career spanning 200 Test matches, Tendulkar amassed 15,921 runs, including 51 centuries. His One Day International (ODI) record is equally remarkable, with 18,426 runs and 49 centuries in 463 matches.

As a mentor and icon for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Tendulkar is actively involved in shaping the team’s future. 

He is set to supervise the upcoming IPL auction this weekend, demonstrating his continued passion for cricket.

Voting Day Highlights in Maharashtra

The state witnessed enthusiastic participation in the single-phase assembly elections. 

The Election Commission has urged citizens to utilise their right to vote responsibly. 

With Sachin Tendulkar leading by example, citizens are expected to follow suit, contributing to a robust democracy.
