Injury has always been a concern for this middle-order batter of the Indian Team. earlier in 2023, he had a back injury and went under the knife. After that, he was out of cricket for a long time. Because of this injury, he missed the WTC final and the Test series against West Indies. That was a setback for him. He made a comeback in the Asia Cup. In the second inning, he scored 4 runs.

Mumbai is missing out on the service of Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, and Shivam Dube. In that situation, Shreyas Iyer’s inclusion in the squad can be beneficial for the team. In the first match, Mumbai registered an impressive win. The team is looking forward to the next fixture.
