Shubman Gill To Fly To Ahmedabad Today, Will Recover From Dengue Under the Medical Panel of the BCCI

Indian young sensation and star batter Shubman Gill‘s uncertain deterioration in health took the Indian fans in despair when it was announced on the match-day of India vs Australia that Shubman had got infected with Dengue. The 24-year old batsman already missed the match against Australia and now has been ruled in the match against Afghanistan too which will be held today at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. Despite Shubman’s absence, team India managed to register a thumping victory against Australia in its World Cup opener.

Looking at Shubman’s condition in Chennai

He essentially travelled with the team to Chennai ahead of the match against Australia but his health unfortunately took a different turn and his platelet count dropped below 1,00,000 per microliter. Due to this backdrop, Shubman had been hospitalised in Chennai and luckily got discharged after recovering in a day.

Currently, Gill is not expected to play against Pakistan due to fever but he will be travelling to Ahmedabad today while the team is in Delhi for its match against Afghanistan. He is to be kept under the observation of the medical panel of the BCCI for fast and efficient recovery. Coach Vikram Rathour opened up on Shubman’s health saying that “Gill’s vital signs are improving and he is on the right path of recovery-70 to 80% recovered. Difficult to say when he will return and things are looking good.”

Showing signs of recovery

Vikram Rathour’s statement hints at Shubman’s speedy recovery on track and signs of returning to action soon. A senior BCCI official also commented on Gill’s state of fitness asserting that “Shubman Gill will be given all the time to recover and regain match fitness. There is no thought of seeking or discussing replacements at this stage as the management considers him a vital cog in the set-up. Gill is already showing positive signs and is likely to make a return soon.”
