Smith Enters the Elite Club, Scores 5,000 ODI Runs

It is almost the time for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. But before stepping onto the big stage, Australia is facing India on Indian soil. Three ODI have been scheduled in this series. This series is the final rehearsal stage for both teams. In the first two games, Australia faced two losses and already fell behind. India is leading the series by 2-0. On September 27, Australia is facing India for the last and final ODI in Rajkot. In this match, Steve Smith scored 5000 runs in ODI.

5000 runs in ODI:

India is facing Australia in the last clash before the World Cup. In the match, Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. The Aussie Openers gave a good start. David Warner scored 56 out of 34 balls with a strike rate of 164.71. It consisted of six boundaries and four boundaries. But it was unfortunate for Marsh. He played an excellent innings of 96 and got out. It contains thirteen boundaries and three over boundaries. After 30 overs Australia is in a good stand.

But during the match, Aussie batter Steve Smith reached the milestone of scoring 5,000 ODI runs with a strike rate of 44.07. In this span, Smith made 12 centuries and 29 half-centuries.

He made his ODI debut on 19 February 2010 against  West Indies. He played 129 ODI innings and crossed a milestone of 5,000 ODI runs. His average is 44.49. His strike rate in ODI is 87.52. He hit 435 fours and 47 sixes. 

He holds the ninth position of scoring most runs in an innings by a captain. He is in the sixth position in scoring the most hundred in a series. Till now, his highest score in ODI is 164.

This is the final rehearsal stage before the World Cup. India is in a good stage in the tournament. They are leading the series by 2-0. Australia is trying hard to stop getting whitewashed by opponents. India will be facing Australia on October 8 in the World Cup stage.
