While the India vs. Australia match was going on in the Oval, fans were booing over the former Australian captain. Then Former Indian captain Virat Kohli stood up for Smith and apologised to him on behalf of the crowd.

The ball-tampering scandal:

In March 2018, on the third day of the third test against South Africa in the 43rd over of South Africa’s second innings, Cameron Bancroft was shown on the ground appearing to rub the ball with a small yellow object. After Bancroft realized that he had been seen, he hid the object in his trousers. Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft were caught for that. After five days of investigation, it was found to be a sandpaper that cricketers use to maintain their bats. Smith also admitted that the plan was made during the lunch break. After that, they got banned for one year from cricket.

He is just playing cricket.”
