Platform for Young Talent

The UPL aims to provide a platform for young cricket players in Uttarakhand to showcase their skills alongside seasoned professionals.

To ensure fair team selection, a player draft will be held on September 1, where each of the eight teams will pick one marquee player.

Prominent players like Akash Madhwal, Ekta Bisht, and others will be available as marquee players.

The CAU is excited to introduce this premier competition and a new platform for the emerging stars just like Indian Premier League.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has opened doors for many young players, allowing them to not only earn money but also showcase their talents. Before the IPL was introduced, over a decade ago, such opportunities were rare.

With around eight teams, each allowed to field only four foreign players, the IPL has provided a platform for many domestic Indian players to shine in front of large audiences.

“We are delighted with the response we have received from various stakeholders since the idea of conducting the Uttarakhand Premier League came about,” Mahim Verma, secretary, Cricket Association of Uttarakhand, said.

“We are proud and extremely excited to be introducing Uttarakhand’s first-ever premier T20 competition that will introduce fans and players to an atmosphere which the Indian Premier League is known for.

“It’s an atmosphere that helps in the accelerated development of young players, and at the same time, provides the fans with the chance to enjoy entertaining cricket with their loved ones.”
