Virat Kohli always remains positive on the ground: Yuzvendra Chahal

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been in the scheme of things for quite some time now and finally, he is getting the rewards for his hard work. A year after making his ODI debut, he made a comeback to the Indian ODI side for the Sri Lankan tour. In the 4 games that he played, he bagged 5 wickets at an economy rate of 4.7 to justify his selection.

The 27-year-old has credited the Indian skipper Virat Kohli for all the motivation he provides. Yuzvendra Chahal has been playing under Kohli for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL for a number of years. He feels that Kohli has a positive attitude and always motivates him.

“Virat Kohli always remains positive on the ground, always confident about his decisions. He will always motivate you even if you are giving runs or if you are not doing well,” Yuzvendra Chahal told India TV in an exclusive chat.

“Sri Lanka tour is very important for me because I came back after one year in the ODI team and we won 5-0. I can’t express my feeling how happy I am to be a part of this team,” said Chahal.

Before getting selected for the Sri Lankan tour, Chahal put up an impressive show on the India A tour to South Africa. He talked about how that tour helped him to do well in the island nation.

“Sri Lankan pitches are very slow. Before I came here, I bowled on the similar kind of wickets in South Africa and I performed well there. So, I was confident about myself and obviously, it was a great feeling if you take wickets for your team and help the team to win wearing the India jersey. It is a great feeling, you can’t express it in words,” he added.

The absence of the regular spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja opened the doors for the 3 young spinners – Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel. All 3 did well in the Sri Lanka series and now, it will be interesting to see who retains the spot in the side for the upcoming limited overs series against Australia.
