India’s former captain MS Dhoni achieved a special landmark as he stepped onto the field in Colombo to play the 4th ODI against Sri Lanka. It was his 300th ODI in his career. He has played 297 ODIs for India and featured for Asia XI thrice against Africa XI. It is an astonishing achievement and the whole world congratulated him.
The Indian team took the opportunity to make it a special day for the wicketkeeper. Before the start of the 4th ODI, the whole team gathered in a huddle and presented a memento to Dhoni. The skipper Virat Kohli presented it to him on the team’s behalf.
Along with the memento, Kohli had a very special message to his former leader. He expressed his feelings and said, “ 90 percent of us have started our careers under you. It is an honor to give this memento to him. You will always remain our captain.”
The Twitter handle of BCCI posted a photo of Kohli presenting the memento along with the team. The caption of the tweet read, ‘You will always remain our Captain,’ says @imVkohli on @msdhoni’s 300th ODI celebration #Dhoni300.

MS Dhoni special in Colombo
Dhoni has always played the role of a finisher in the Indian side and even in his 300th ODI, he did the same. India batted first in the 4th ODI and Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma scored superlative hundreds to put India into the driver’s seat. At one stage, India were cruising towards a score of 400 but a flurry of wickets changed the course of the innings.
After being 225/1, India found themselves at 274/5 with more than 12 overs in hand. MS Dhoni came out to bat at No.7 and once again, he had the task of finishing the innings during the death. Dhoni joined hands with Manish Pandey and the duo added 101 runs and took India to a massive 375/5. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 49 off 42 balls with 5 fours and a six where his partner scored one more off an equal number of deliveries.
