An endearing move from the great player. Ahead of the pivotal Bangladesh Test series, Virat Kohli has expressed his support for rookie bowler Akash Deep by giving him a priceless item.
Akash Deep In Test series against Bangladesh
The series features a potent pace assault led by Deep, with players like Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Yash Dayal—who received his first Test call-up—all contributing. India can only include Deep in the playing XI if they choose to use three pacers, even though Bumrah and Siraj are their foremost choice.
With the wickets of Ollie Pope, Ben Duckett, and Zak Crawley, Deep made an unforgettable Test debut. After finishing with numbers of 19-0-83-3, India went on to win the match by a margin of five wickets. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Deep was also a member of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team, albeit he only participated in one game against the Mumbai Indians (MI).
At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Deep participated for India A in their Duleep Trophy encounter against India B. After taking four wickets in the first innings, the 26-year-old claimed five in the second.
Akash Deep Receives A Gift Before IND vs BAN
Deep posted a photo of a cricket bat that Kohli had given him on Instagram on Monday. In addition to sharing the Team India dressing room for the forthcoming Test match against Bangladesh, the two cricket players are teammates with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League.
Among the cricket players who have received a bat from Virat Kohli is Akash Deep. Batsman Vijaykumar Vyshak claimed in an earlier RCB video that he asked the former India skipper for a bat and used it to strike a half-century. Rinku Singh was another cricketer who begged Kohli for numerous bats.
Deep posted a photo of the autographed bat on his Instagram account. Deep made his Test debut earlier this year in February in Ranchi against Ben Stokes’ England team. “Thank You Bhaiya,” the 27-year-old wrote as a caption for the photo.
India VS Bangladesh Test Series
Beginning on September 19, Team India will play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The first Test match will take place in Chennai at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
