“India will win” says Monty Panesar

Former England spinner Monty Panesar chose the Rohit Sharma-led squad to win the tournament’s final against South Africa, predicting Kohli will score a century.

“India will win the T20 World Cup final, and Virat Kohli will score 100,” Panesar told ANI.

Virat Kohli is facing a tough time in his career, equalling Ashish Nehra’s unwanted record of getting 2 ducks in the same T20 World Cup season. Kohli’s highest score in the 2024 edition of the World Cup was against Bangladesh, where he scored 37 off 28 balls. Apart from these, his only other double digit score this season was the 24 runs he scored in 24 balls against Afghanistan

Rohit Sharma supports Virat Kohli ahead of the World Cup finals

Team India’s captain Rohit Sharma has shown himself to be a good decision maker when it comes to cricket. The player showed great form when it was much needed, scoring 92 against Australia in the Super 8 match.

However, Virat Kohli’s recent performance has left some questions for the captain. Rohit sided with his teammate with class, vouching for him and reminding everyone how good of a player Kohli can be.

“He (Kohli) is a quality player. Any player can go through that. We do understand his class, and we do understand his importance in all these big games. Form is never a problem. When you’ve played cricket for 15 years, form is never a problem. He’s looking good, the intent is there, and he’s probably saving for the final. Absolutely (backing Kohli for the final),” Rohit said in the post-match presentation after India’s 68-run over England in the semi-final. (ANI)
