Even though MS Dhoni is a wicketkeeper but he can roll his arm over and bowl some useful part-time. The 36-year-old was seen bowling in the nets ahead of the 3rd ODI against Australia at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is progressing as a batsman, was having a net against the spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. MS Dhoni then decided to step in and bowled a few leg breaks to the batsman. Even though he didn’t extract prodigious turn yet he was landing the ball alright.

Dhoni has bowled for India in international cricket also in both Test and ODI. He has bagged a wicket as well in ODI that of Travis Dowlin when he bowled in a game between India and West Indies in the ICC Champions Trophy 2009. A gentle medium pacer nipped back off the surface to castle the batsman to hand Dhoni his solitary wicket in international cricket.

Even though he won’t be required to bowl against Australia as India is blessed with a bunch of talented young spinners yet it’s never a bad idea to loosen the body with a mild bowling spell in the nets.

Dhoni in form of late

India has been having a tremendous time in all formats under the leadership of Virat Kohli and ever since Dhoni handed over the reigns to Kohli, he has been relieved off the pressure and is as relaxed as ever.

The Ranchi-lad has found a great form of late and on the tours to Windies and Sri Lanka, he played in his usual demeanor. In the Sri Lanka series, no bowler could get him out and he returned unbeaten.

In the first ODI against Australia, he scored a brilliant 79 and bailed the side out of trouble to hand a lead in the series. While there was pressure on him to perform, he delivered like he has done throughout his life to strengthen his place for the 2019 ODI World Cup.
