We want to be professional and get the job done and win the key moments”: MS Dhoni ahead of the clash against MI

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), advised his players to pay close attention when playing against Mumbai Indians (MI) after winning the toss. On Saturday, May 6, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the 49th game of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place between CSK and MI.

After winning the toss, Dhoni invited the visitors to bat first. The CSK captain explained that he decided to pitch first because rain was predicted. He said that, despite a few missteps here and there, his club has performed admirably so far this season.

In today’s El Classico, MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl first. This was a very good decision by them as they have made run scoring difficult for the MI batters.

MS Dhoni said at the toss

“We will bowl first. A bit of rain is scheduled. That’s the reason and good wicket and we want MI to set it up. On and off we have done well and the players need to get attentive on the field,” Dhoni said after winning the toss in Chennai as quoted by India Today.

The 41-year-old added that each victory made his team stronger. He added that they needed to finish games professionally because they were in the second half of the season.

“We have improved from the first game and we have slipped away here and there. It happens. Now, we want to be professional and get the job done and win the key moments. We are playing with the same squad,” he added.

The Mumbai Indians are currently in sixth position on the points table in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Out of the nine games they’ve played, they’ve won five and are currently on a two-match winning streak. In their previous match, they faced the Punjab Kings, who put up a good score of 214 runs for the loss of three wickets, with Liam Livingstone scoring a solid fifty. However, MI’s Piyush Chawla was the star bowler of the match, taking two wickets for just 29 runs in his four overs. MI lost Rohit Sharma and Cameron Green early, but a partnership of 116 runs between Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav helped them stay in the game. Tim David and Tilak Varma then added 38 runs to secure a six-wicket victory.
