West Indies Players Fined for Breaching ICC Code of Conduct in Second Test Against Bangladesh

The West Indies second Test against Bangladesh not only ended in disappointment on the field but also brought disciplinary setbacks for two of their players. Jayden Seales and Kevin Sinclair were fined for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the match, which Bangladesh won to level the series 1-1.

Jayden Seales Penalized for Aggressive Gesture

Fast bowler Jayden Seales was handed disciplinary action for making an aggressive gesture towards the Bangladesh dressing room after taking a wicket. His actions came under the clause of “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game” under the ICC’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

Seales was fined 25% of his match fee and received one demerit point on his record. This was his first offence within a 24-month period.

Kevin Sinclair Fined for Ignoring Umpire Warnings

Off-spinner Kevin Sinclair landed himself in trouble when he ignored on-field umpire warnings and persisted in the use of aggressive language toward Bangladesh players. This resulted in a breach of the ICC’s clause pertaining to “disobeying an umpire’s instruction during an international match.”

Bangladesh’s First Victory in West Indies Since 2009

Bangladesh ended a 15-year drought in the Caribbean with a 101-run win over the West Indies in the second Test, levelling the series 1-1. Jaker Ali’s counter-attacking 91 set a challenging target of 287, while Taijul Islam’s 5-for dismantled the hosts on Day 5 at Sabina Park.

Jaker received a wave of bouncers but Bangladesh was kept under control, though the tail was of little use. Taijul removed Kraigg Brathwaite and Kavem Hodge in the process of achieving his third five-wicket haul against the West Indies. With strong bowling performances throughout, Bangladesh showcased resilience and earned a well-deserved historic victory.
