WPL 2023: Here’s what the updated Orange Cap list looks like after today’s games

The Women’s Premier League saw two encounters today. The scorers were pretty busy today, as the stats kept changing throughout the day. After the first game between UP Warriorz and Mumbai Indians, Meg Lanning had continued to hold her first spot in the Orange Cap list.

Harmanpreet moves up the list

Harmanpreet Kaur and Hayley Matthews from Mumbai Indians both moved up the Orange Cap list after scoring runs in their team’s recent match, with Kaur occupying the third spot and Matthews the fourth. Kaur contributed 25 runs, while Matthews top-scored with 35 runs in the first innings.

However, there was some disappointment for UPW skipper Alyssa Healy, who was dismissed for just 8 runs inside the powerplay in her team’s last match. As a result, she had dropped down to the fifth spot on the Orange Cap list, just seven runs ahead of Nat Sciver-Brunt from MI, who was in sixth place.

After the second game, there were some shifts in the top 5. Sophie Devine, the New Zealand all-rounder, has taken over the top spot. Devine has accumulated 266 runs in the tournament so far, showcasing her aggressive batting style with a strike rate of 145.21. Meg Lanning, the former number 1, is now in second place with 239 runs to her name.

Elyse Perry, the Australian cricket superstar, has moved up to the third position with 224 runs. Perry has been consistent with the bat, scoring runs in almost every match, and has been a key player for her team. Thus, Harmanpreet Kaur is at number 4 with 217 runs, while Hayley Matthews is at number 5 with 205 runs.
