WPL Orange Cap 2023: Harleen Deol leap frogs to number 3; Lanning holds number one position

At the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, in a high-scoring Women’s Premier League match between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sophia Dunkley (65) and Harleen Deol (67), who both scored powerful innings, helped Gujarat Giants defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The victory was the first of the season for Gujarat. Bangalore, on the other side, lost their third game in a row, prolonging captain Smriti Mandhana’s winless streak.
After deciding to bat, Gujarat amassed a mammoth 201 for 7 thanks to Dunkley’s 18-ball fifty and Harleen’s excellent batting in the middle and final overs. Bangalore’s response saw a deficit of 11 and a final score of 190 for 6. Harleen leapfrogged to the third position in the orange cap list after this match.
Meg Lanning, the captain of the Caps, has been an inspiration in both games, scoring two half-centuries. In their opening game, Lanning struck an explosive knock of 72 off 43 balls against the RCB. She scored 70 runs off 42 balls yesterday, earning Delhi their second straight victory. Lanning now holds the orange hat as the player with the most runs scored in the competition with 142 runs after two half-centuries.
Hayley Matthews is ranked second on the rankings with 124 runs. Hayley Matthews, an all-rounder who took three wickets in the first innings to help Mumbai restrict Bangalore to only 155 runs in 18.4 overs, was named the player of the match for her team.
Shafali Verma, who is in fourth place, has 101 runs scored in the competition. Although seeming dangerous, the Indian opener was removed for 17, preventing her from making a significant score.
After her 90* against the Delhi Capitals, Tahila McGrath shot up to the sixth position. She was the lone wolf for the UP Warriorz, and despite her best efforts, the UP brand was unable to triumph.
At this point in the competition, Nat Scavier is leaving it up to the excitement and expectations. The English all-rounder is in 6th position with 78 runs at a huge strike rate of 165.96. MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur follows her, scoring 65 runs in one inning.
