Afghanistan Adds Sediqullah Atal and Noor Ahmad for ODIs Against Bangladesh

In a strategic adjustment ahead of the ODI series against Bangladesh, Afghanistan has announced the inclusion of Sediqullah Atal and Noor Ahmad in their squad. This decision comes as the team seeks to enhance its performance following recent matches. While Atal and Ahmad bring fresh talent to the lineup, key players Ibrahim Zadran and Mujeeb Ur Rahman will miss out as they continue to recover from injuries. The upcoming series presents an opportunity for Afghanistan to showcase their depth and adaptability in a competitive environment.

Sediqullah Atal: A New Addition to the Squad

Opening batsman Sediqullah Atal and left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad have been added to Afghanistan’s side, which defeated South Africa in Sharjah in September, for the ODI series against Bangladesh at the same location in November. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who has been sidelined due to a right phalanx (hand) injury, and Ibrahim Zadran, who is recuperating from ankle surgery, are not yet ready to play.

With scores of 52, 95 not out, and 83, Atal, who has six T20I caps, has led the Emerging Teams Asia Cup T20 event. Noor returns after a fantastic Caribbean Premier League showing in which he took a table-topping 22 wickets for the St Lucia Kings and won Player of the Series.

The Impact of Injuries: Missing Key Players

Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil, chief selector for the Afghanistan Cricket Board, stated: “Ibrahim Zadran is currently undergoing rehabilitation and continues to recover from the surgery he recently had. Mujeeb Ur Rahman also remains unavailable due to ongoing treatment.

“However, Noor Ahmad is back in the squad, and we have included a promising top-order batter in Sediqullah Atal, who has impressed everyone with his consistent top performances.”He mentioned.

Afghanistan made history by winning their first series against a team in the top five of the ICC rankings in their last assignment, the three ODIs against South Africa.
