While there are batsmen like Chris Gayle who absolutely murder the ball and put the crowd in danger with their towering sixes. There are a few others who still in believe in classical stroke-making to pile on the runs. There have been quite a few who didn’t have the power of a Gayle but they possessed the finesse and the touch.
Shikhar Dhawan is one such player who was never known for his big sixes. He believed in keeping the ball on the ground and still scored runs as prolifically as any other. The left-hander holds the record for the most number of fours in IPL history. Dhawan, with 524 boundaries, stands on top of the ladder.
Suresh Raina is next on the list with 493 sixes. Suresh Raina can clear any ground easily and still maintain his class with on-field strokes. Along with the fours, he has hit a handful of sixes which is why he is also one of the leading run-getters of the league.
Gautam Gambhir, who was once on top, is now behind Raina with 491 fours. Virat Kohli appears next on the list at No.4. Very rarely you would see someone like Kohli playing cheeky shots even in the shortest format of the game. He would stick to orthodox cricket and even then, score big. Among the top 10, David Warner and Chris Gayle are the only overseas batsmen.
