Burj Khalifa shines as UAE preps for Women’s T20 WC 2024 tickets

With just over 20 days left for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, the ICC has made an exciting announcement about ticket prices for the event. To commemorate this, a stunning laser show lit up the iconic Burj Khalifa, marking the tournament’s upcoming celebration in the UAE. In a bid to make the matches accessible to everyone, ticket prices will start from just five dirhams, and entry will be free for fans under 18 years old.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed his excitement during a media conference, emphasizing the diversity of the UAE, making it feel like a home tournament for all 10 participating teams. The tournament is set to begin on October 3 and will feature 23 matches over 18 days, with teams vying for the prestigious trophy.

Group Breakdown and Tournament Format

The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will feature 10 teams, divided into two groups of five. 

Group A includes defending champions Australia, along with India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Group B consists of Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland. Each team will face the others in their group in a round-robin format.

 The top two teams from each group will then advance to the knockout stages.

Matches will be played across two venues—Dubai and Sharjah—with the tournament kicking off on October 3 when Bangladesh faces Scotland in Sharjah.

Semi-finals are scheduled for October 17 and 18, with the final taking place in Dubai on October 20.

Zaid Abbas, a board member of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), expressed his pride in the UAE hosting its first global women’s tournament, highlighting the country’s experience in organising world-class cricket events.
