The enthusiastic crowd at Eden Gardens cheered him on throughout the match. Before this match against South Africa, Kohli had narrowly missed his 49th ODI century during India’s previous game against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium.
Kohli, along with Shreyas Iyer (77), established a brilliant 134-run partnership for the third wicket, with Iyer delivering an exceptional performance. Earlier in the game, Captain Rohit Sharma’s quick 40 runs off 24 balls provided India with a strong start. Suryakumar Yadav contributed 22 runs off 14 balls, and Ravindra Jadeja finished with an unbeaten 29 runs off 15 balls, ensuring that India concluded their innings in a commanding fashion.
Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, the Indian team has enjoyed a spectacular World Cup campaign so far. Both the Indian bowlers and batsmen have excelled. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been the driving forces behind India’s batting, while the trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah have displayed exceptional control over the white ball, moving it as they desire.
