Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have announced the replacement of Devon Conway with England pacer Richard Gleeson for the ongoing IPL 2024 season. Conway, who played for CSK in the last two seasons, has been ruled out of this year’s tournament due to an injury. Despite not arriving in India for the current edition, Conway has had a significant impact on the team, playing 23 matches and scoring 924 runs, including 9 half-centuries and a highest score of 92*.
The addition of Richard Gleeson is expected to bolster CSK’s bowling attack. The right-arm pacer has represented England in 6 T20Is and has taken 9 wickets in international cricket. In his T20 career spanning 90 matches, Gleeson has claimed 101 wickets, showcasing his ability to perform in the shortest format of the game. He will join the CSK squad for his reserve price of ₹50 lakh.
CSK, who are currently enjoying a good run of form after beating Mumbai Indians in their last match, are set to face Lucknow Super Giants next. The match, scheduled to be played at the two-paced Ekana Stadium pitch, will see CSK aiming to continue their winning momentum.
