ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 started its journey on October 5. New Zealand registered a clinical win against England. They just took the match away from the opponent. England won the 2019 World Cup by defeating New Zealand in a Super Over. It was also a revenge-taking match for the Kiwis. They got their job done. But on October 6, Pakistan will face Netherlands in the second match. Former Indian player Aakash Chopra commented on this fixture.
Scenario before the match:
In the Second match, the biggest will be played between Pakistan and Netherlands. The match will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 6. Both the teams are on a little back foot. It was hard luck for Pakistan in the Asia Cup. They faced a defeat against India by 228 runs. They were out of the tournament before appearing in the final. Even they faced two back-to-back defeats in two warm-up games before the World Cup.
On the other hand, the Netherlands is playing for the first time in recent times. They traveled to India a few times before than other times. They made a camp in Bengaluru to prepare for the World Cup. They also played two matches with the Karnataka Cricket team. But it was hard luck for them. They lost both matches.
Aakash Chopra’s View:
On Indian soil, Pakistan is playing after years. Everyone is excited to see the biggest rivalry of cricket in front of their eyes. It is also a new experience for the majority of Pakistani players. They have a balanced team. A lot of talents are there in the Pakistan team. In the right situation, they can be dangerous for the opponents.
While talking about this match, former Indian player Aakash Chopra said, “ All of the eyes will be on Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi, when Pakistan takes on the Netherlands. That is because irrespective of the opposition, they step up. The Netherlands has done well to reach this point, but Pakistan will be looking to bring their A-game on the ground.”
Further, he said, “It is important for Pakistan that their opening batters get some runs under their belt. Babar Azam will also be among runs, and if the runs are in early, then the pressure is off.”
Pakistan is struggling in its opening position. Openers are currently not in a good rhythm. Bowlers also need to take some more responsibility. In the pressure situation, the bowlers are giving more runs. This is the reason why Pakistan is struggling to find its desired win.
