Former Indian Women’s Captain Mithali Raj Left Gujarat Titans Ahead of WPL Auction 

Mithali Raj has parted ways with Gujarat Titans as mentor and advisor before WPL 2025 auction. After disappointing performance in the two seasons, the former Indian  captain joined a new venture as Andhra Cricket Association mentorship.

Mithali Raj Left Gujarat Titans 

Indian former cricketer and captain, Mithali Raj stepped down as  Gujarat Titans mentor and advisor ahead of WPL 2025 auction. This decision came after the franchise’s poor performance in the last two seasons. Gujarat Titans has ended both their seasons by being at the bottom of the points table.

According to reports, Mithali Raj was signed for 3 years by the Gujarat Titans, but she parted ways earlier. Mithali Raj has now joined Andhra Cricket Association as a mentor and consultant for women’s cricket operations.

Coach Changes In Gujarat Titans 

Gujarat Titans bowling coach Nooshin Al Khadeer along with Mithali Raj has also chosen to not renew her two-year contract. Nooshin,  played a key role in developing young talents, is now coaching India’s Under-19 Women’s team.

However, other coaching members of Gujarat Titans, such as head coach Michael Klinger and fielding coach Carl Hopkinson will continue their current roles.

WPL 2025 Auction 

The WPL 2025 auction is set to take place in Bengaluru on December 15, 2024. Total 120 players have been shortlisted, including 91 Indian players and 29 overseas cricketers. Among them 9 players are capped, while the overseas section has 8 uncapped players.

With only 19 slots remaining across all franchises, including 5 for overseas players, teams will be looking to make smart buys to strengthen their squads.

In November 2024, WPL teams announced their retained players names. Total 71 players were retained including 21 overseas players.
