In the 3rd T20I between India and South Africa, Avesh Khan is dropped, with Ramandeep Singh making his debut. India bats first, aiming for a competitive total on a flat track.
India’s Lineup Change: Ramandeep Replaces Avesh Khan
In a closely contested T20I series, India has opted for a strategic switch by resting Avesh Khan and giving a debut to Ramandeep Singh in the final game.
With the series balanced at 1-1, the management chose Ramandeep for his all-round ability, hoping he can contribute both with the bat and ball, adding depth to India’s lineup.
This decision may also alleviate some pressure on India’s top order, which struggled in the last game. Ramandeep’s inclusion aligns with India’s intention to bolster their batting depth, especially crucial in a format where runs on the board can be game-changing.
“It is okay. We have done well in the last two games while batting first. The boys have come out with clear plans and are executing it, I have been really happy with that. Just be clear, go out and enjoy yourself (the message from him and the management). These boys have made my job easier. We have one change – Ramandeep makes his debut. Avesh has done well for us but one of the two bowlers had to make a sacrifice,” Yadav stated.
The choice to replace Avesh Khan may stem from his recent form and economy rate, where he struggled to contain runs, particularly in the death overs.
India’s management is likely looking for more consistency and hoping Ramandeep will strike a balance between providing pace options and maintaining the economy.

South Africa’s Approach: Strengthening with Sipamla
South Africa, meanwhile, has brought in Lutho Sipamla, opting for an additional pacer over leg-spinner Nqabayomzi Peter.
This decision is likely influenced by the flat surface at Centurion, which has traditionally favoured fast bowlers.
Sipamla’s pace and control could be pivotal in keeping India’s aggressive batting lineup in check, especially during the powerplay.
South Africa’s decision to chase aligns with the venue’s tendency to favour the team batting second.
With India aiming for a substantial total to secure the series, it will be up to the South African bowlers, including Sipamla, to contain India’s power hitters and set the stage for a manageable chase.
