Talk about partnership batting and there isn’t a pair better than Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers that attracts the crowd. When these two classy right-handers bat together, they put up a show of sheer batsmanship. Royal Challengers Bangalore are lucky to have two of the best batsmen ever in the same line-up.
Kohli and de Villiers occupy the top two positions on the list for the highest partnerships in IPL history. They added 229 runs batting together against Gujarat Lions in the 2016 edition in Bengaluru. While de Villiers made 129 from just 52 balls, Kohli scored 109 from 55 balls. It was the first and only occasion when two batsmen scored centuries in the same innings. RCB had scored 248 that day while GL could utter just 104 runs.
Another masterclass stand came from them in 2015 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. They added 215 runs for the 2nd wicket. Kohli scored 82 from 50 balls and de Villiers went on to make 133 from 59 balls. RCB ended up with 235/1 on the board. In reply, MI could get 196/7 from 20 overs.
