The tournament will be staged at five iconic venues in Colombo, including the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, the Colombo Cricket Club, the Nondescripts Cricket Club, the Singhalese Sports Club, and the P. Sara Oval.

Samantha Dodanwela, the Tournament Director, expressed delight in welcoming this prestigious event back to Sri Lanka after nearly two decades. The five chosen venues have witnessed exceptional talent over the years, and it’s fitting that they now host the budding stars of cricket.

Tournament Format and Teams

The 15th edition of this celebrated event will see 16 teams vying for glory over 41 matches. This includes the 11 best-placed Full Member teams from the last edition and five teams who earned their World Cup spot through regional qualification pathways – Namibia, Nepal, New Zealand, Scotland, and the USA.

The teams have been divided into four groups: Group A (India, Bangladesh, Ireland, USA), Group B (England, South Africa, West Indies, Scotland), Group C (Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Namibia), and Group D (Afghanistan, Pakistan, New Zealand, Nepal).

Exciting Opening Matches and Beyond

The action begins on January 13 with three fixtures, featuring host nation Sri Lanka taking on Zimbabwe at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. The defending champions, India, will start their campaign against 2020 winners Bangladesh a day later on January 14.

A revised format has been introduced for this edition, with teams progressing from the group stages and entering a new Super Six stage, starting on January 24. The Super Six stage will witness intense battles to determine the Semi-Finalists and, ultimately, the Finalists.
